Microsoft’s Compliance & Ethics team has an immediate opening for an experienced Legal Counsel to join their Business & Regulatory Investigations Team.
This position will assist in Microsoft’s continued commitment to comply with laws, regulations and policies governing its business, finance, and accounting activities globally. As part of the Business & Regulatory Investigations Team, you will provide oversight of, and hands-on direction and legal advice in, the internal investigations process, conduct internal investigations and provide legal advice on compliance issues and programs.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities also include serving as an advisor to business compliance committees, providing counseling and training to Microsoft employees, and assisting in the preparation and delivery of reports on compliance investigations and programs. Occasional travel may be necessary to complete certain investigations and engage with Microsoft business clients and CELA colleagues in the field.
The Successful Candidate Will Possess The Following

Highly skilled in conducting investigations-related interviews.
Outstanding analytical and writing ability.
Strong drive, enthusiasm and collegiality, and the ability to work under pressure.
Firm understanding of relevant compliance rules and requirements, including the laws and regulations governing U.S. companies doing business in non-U.S. locations, as well as an appreciation of pertinent accounting and finance principles.
Strong grasp of employment, privacy, and other requirements relating to internal investigations.
Prior experience dealing with diverse cultures and managing and building strong client relationships.
Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and with a demanding case workload, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree OR Completion of a Legal Apprenticeship.
Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
5+ years experience as a practicing attorney OR equivalent practice of law.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
3+ years experience as an attorney in internal/corporate investigations or government investigations.
In-house counsel experience
Experience in internal/corporate investigations or government investigations within/on behalf of/into a multi-national company or other large complex organization.
Ability to apply sound, principled, and consistent judgment in a fast-moving and challenging legal and business environment.
Ability to analyze complex financial, business, and legal issues and communicate them in a clear and concise fashion.
Foreign language skills a plus.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $135,000 and $202,600.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance.
